Rock climbing in Borrowdale, 27th & 28th September 2015

Richard Bryant is our "oldest" client - he first came on a course as a present for his 40th birthday, and he is now in his late 50s. For several years now he has brought a group from his archery club for a couple of days rock climbing in September. At first it was a couple of days of single pitch climbing, then it became one day single pitch and one day multi-pitch, and for the last two years two days of multi-pitch climbing. This year we visited Stickle Ghyll, Tarn Crag and Jack's Rake in the Langdale valley on the first day, and Brown Slabs and Little Chamonix in the second day. The pictures say it all - blue skies, good friends, and warm rock.

In May I worked with Canadian photographer, Jordan Manley, on a photo shoot linked to the opening of the new Arcteryx shop in London (see previous blog posts from 20th May, 4th July, and 15th July). I was able to make a detour on my journey home from the Alps to be at the grand opening on 3rd September, where Jordan gave a presentation of our grand tour of the British Isles. Arcteryx photo shoot: the results

Usually when I am guiding in the mountains, I take a few photos to give to my clients to remind them of the places we have been and the amazing things we have seen. The climbing is the main thing, and the photos are secondary. This work with Jordan was different: the climbing was very much secondary and the photos were what it was all about. It was a great experience for me, trying to help someone understand and capture places where I have spent my working life and people with whom I have shared my passion for the mountains.
