Alpine guiding, 22nd-27th July 2017
/WRITTEN BY CHRIS & ANNE ENSOLL
I get to work with people of all ages and from many different backgrounds, but I don't often get to work with a living legend. Wendy Dodds is very well known as a fell runner, and also in the world of sports medicine.
We spent a couple of days together in April in the Lake District, preparing for this Alps trip - six days of Alpine mountaineering. Wendy was somewhat outside of her comfort zone, but it was very inspirational to work with someone no longer young but still looking for new challenges and wanting to do new things. Wendy was very enthusiastic and keen to learn, which made for a great week. This is what we ticked off:
- Traverse of the Aiguilles Crochues
- Ascent of the Petit Aiguille Vert
- Ascent of the Weissmies from the Almageller hut
- The Cosmiques Arête
